Site context
Pawtucket has a long history of textile industry. Now most mills for textile are vacant. Near the downtown Pawtucket riverbank, the only historic site is Slater Mill but surrounding with a lot of parking lots. One of the key design goals is to create significant education wetlands both for people who live and work in Pawtucket having a pleasant outdoor environment to rest and for tourism who interesting in natural dyer industry and the textile history of Pawtucket.
Purposed Site Plan
A series of wetlands with ecological functions is not only used to improve water quality, flow in each zones to maintain a pleasant environment but also as a symbolic area to educate people about natural dyer industry and species of dyer plants. Selections of variety wetland plants for dying are planted in different zones to improve water quality, educate people and creating a colorful outdoor scenery.
